Ampersand Energy has officially opened a new electric motorcycle manufacturing facility in Nairobi, Kenya in its mission to advance the commercial motorcycle sector in Africa.

This expansion marks a key milestone in Ampersand’s journey to provide sustainable and affordable transportation solutions across the continent. This strategic expansion is a direct response to the surging demand for electric motorcycles in the country, where over 1,100 Ampersand e-motos are already in operation.

The new factory, spanning an impressive 21,000 square meters, is more than three times larger than its predecessor. This significant upgrade, along with the deployment of over 100 dedicated staff, will enable Ampersand to ramp up production to an astounding 60 electric motorcycles per day, or 1,440 per month.

This increased capacity will not only meet the growing demand but also solidify Ampersand’s position as a key player in Kenya’s electric mobility revolution.

Beyond the manufacturing expansion, Ampersand remains committed to providing the most trusted battery swap network for Kenya’s millions of commercial motorcycle riders.

This network is essential for ensuring the seamless operation of Ampersand’s e-motos and offers riders the convenience of quickly swapping depleted batteries for fully charged ones, minimising downtime and maximising productivity.
