Kazang Zambia, the country’s leading provider of value-added services (VAS) point-of-sale terminals, has made a significant step forward with the launch of its Kazang Pay solution.
This innovative payment gateway allows merchants to seamlessly accept card payments on the same terminals they use for mobile money, bill payments, and other prepaid services.
Building on its successful launch in South Africa, where over 60,000 small and micro merchants utilise the platform, Kazang Pay is now empowering Zambian businesses to grow and thrive.
With a huge network of approximately 12,000 VAS terminals spread across Zambia, Kazang is set to transform the payment landscape. The company aims to equip a substantial portion of its merchant base with the ability to accept VISA debit and credit cards, as well as mobile wallet payments, within the next six months.
This strategic move aligns perfectly with Zambia’s rapidly growing card usage and point-of-sale (POS) transactions, which reached a remarkable value of over K111.4 billion by 2022.
Leon de Wit, Managing Director at Kazang Zambia, emphasised the significance of this development, stating, “Zambia has made substantial progress in financial inclusion, and Kazang Pay empowers merchants to effortlessly accept card payments on the same versatile terminal they already utilise for vending VAS products.”
