Alitheia IDF Invests $4.5 Million in Seamfix for Enhanced Digital ID Verification Systems across Africa.

Alitheia IDF Invests $4.5 Million in Seamfix for Enhanced Digital ID Verification Systems across Africa.

Seamfix, a Nigerian digital identity solutions provider, has secured $4.5 million in funding to expand its digital ID and credential services into five new African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Uganda.

The company will use the funding to enhance its technology infrastructure and improve data flow for continental trade and integration.

This investment is the first institutional funding received by Seamfix, and it comes from Alitheia IDF, a $100 million gender-lens fund that invests in SMEs led by gender-diverse teams.

The fund aims to enable SMEs to grow and scale, focusing on gender diversity and inclusion. Seamfix provides identity management, data capture, and process automation solutions to large businesses and government agencies worldwide.

Its digital ID verification systems enable seamless creation, verification, and access to trusted digital identities and services for customers globally.

With a successful track record of implementing digital identity solutions in Nigeria and other countries, Seamfix is set to make a significant impact in the new African markets it plans to expand into.

Reliable digital ID verification systems are essential for unlocking economic potential, enhancing financial participation, and improving government service efficiency.

According to a McKinsey report, access to such systems can unlock up to 70% of an economy’s full economic potential and an additional 6% of GDP.

By expanding its digital identity solutions, Seamfix will help increase economic opportunities and drive digital inclusion and connectivity in the new African markets it plans to enter.

Seamfix’s digital identity solutions have successfully registered over 100 million National Identification Numbers in Nigeria and have delivered a wide range of solutions for organisations such as Veremark, Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), MTN, Glo, Airtel 9 Mobile, United Bank for Africa, Interswitch, and Union Bank.

The company’s services enable these organisations to seamlessly create, verify, and access trusted digital identities and services, enhancing the customer experience and improving service delivery.

Alitheia IDF’s principal partner, Tokunboh Ishmael, believes that Seamfix’s digital identity solutions can empower women in emerging economies to participate in economic value creation and access opportunities.

She argues that studies show that women in low-income emerging economies are less likely to have digital IDs, which hinders their ability to participate in economic value creation and access opportunities.

Therefore, this investment aligns with Alitheia IDF’s mission to enable SMEs to grow and scale, focusing on gender diversity and inclusion.
