Ghanaian Startups Secure First Backing from Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility

The Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility, a US$4 million pilot initiative managed by Village Capital and funded by FMO and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), has announced its first two investments in Ghanaian startups.

  • US$200,000 in Rivia Clinics – a tech-enabled primary healthcare startup.
  • US$150,000 in VDL Fulfilment – an e-commerce logistics platform for African SMEs.

These investments mark the official launch of the facility’s deployment phase, targeting early-stage companies that address critical challenges in healthcare access and logistics across Africa.

Rivia Clinics: Transforming Primary Healthcare Delivery

Rivia Clinics operates a unified membership model that combines virtual and in-person primary care through a network of branded and partner clinics.

Since launching in 2024, the company has already served over 50,000 patients using an asset-light, scalable approach.

For too long, healthcare has been built around misaligned incentives. Riviaa Clinics is rewriting that by combining care delivery and employer-health financing into one unified model. The investment comes at exactly the right moment

Isidore Kpotufe, Founder of Rivia Clinics

The funding will support Rivia’s expansion of its clinic network and enhancement of its digital health platform.

VDL Fulfilment: Streamlining E-commerce Logistics

VDL Fulfilment provides end-to-end logistics services, including warehousing, order management, and last-mile delivery for SMEs.

To date, the company has processed over US$3.8 million in merchandise value and fulfilled more than 170,000 orders for over 150 active vendors.

Investor Perspective

Rivia and VDL are strong examples of the businesses emerging across Ghana – founders building practical solutions to real, everyday challenges. What stands out is the impact both companies are already having

Future Outlook

The Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility’s initial investments in Rivia Clinics and VDL Fulfilment signal strong confidence in Ghana’s startup ecosystem.
