Visa has named Aminata Kane as Senior Vice President and Head of Western and Central Africa, a strategic move to strengthen its presence in 23 African markets.
Based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Kane will lead Visa’s newly formed sub-regional team, operating from key offices in Abidjan, Accra, Kinshasa, and Lagos.
This appointment underscores Visa’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion and promoting innovative digital payment ecosystems across the region.
A Proven Leader in Digital Financial Services
Aminata Kane brings a wealth of experience in digital financial services and telecommunications, having served as Regional Chief Executive Officer for Orange Money Group.
During her tenure, she spearheaded Orange Money and Orange Bank Africa operations across 17 countries, driving financial inclusion through innovative mobile money solutions.
Her leadership at Orange also saw the establishment of the Orange Foundation and the Orange Digital Centre in Sierra Leone, initiatives focused on empowering youth and women through technology and digital skills training.

Kane’s career began at Goldman Sachs, followed by a stint at McKinsey & Company in Paris, where she refined her expertise in financial strategy, transformation, and market expansion.
A graduate of HEC Paris and MIT Sloan School of Management, Kane is a recognised Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and ranks among the Top 100 Women CEOs in Africa.
