AGF and Vista Group Holding Partnership Fostering Economic Growth in Guinea

The African Guarantee Fund (AGF) and Vista Group Holding have forged a transformative partnership aimed at reshaping access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Guinea.

Unveiled on January 16, 2024, this landmark collaboration pledges to confront the persistent financing hurdles obstructing SME growth and development in the West African nation.

By amalgamating AGF’s financial guarantee prowess with Vista Group Holding’s expansive network and lending activities, the partnership aims to spark economic growth, empower women-led businesses, and foster inclusive development.

At its core, the alliance is committed to unlocking growth avenues for SMEs in Guinea and beyond.

AGF’s pledge of a substantial loan portfolio guarantee of USD 50 million serves as a lifeline for Vista Group Holding’s lending endeavors to SMEs nationwide.

With Guinea boasting a GDP of USD 21 billion and a population of 13.9 million, SMEs contribute a substantial 43% to the nation’s economic output, underscoring their pivotal role in driving prosperity and development.

This infusion of funds targets bridging the financing chasm that has long hindered SME expansion, particularly in marginalized markets such as women-owned enterprises, green ventures, and youth-led initiatives.

The strategic partnership between AGF and Vista Group Holding is meticulously crafted to promote financial inclusion and bolster access to finance for entrepreneurs, thereby nurturing inclusive economic growth in the region.

By prioritizing underserved markets, the collaboration seeks to dismantle systemic barriers that have historically marginalized SMEs, especially those spearheaded by women and young entrepreneurs.

Through bespoke financial support and resources, AGF and Vista Group Holding envision fostering a supportive ecosystem conducive to SME prosperity and capitalizing on growth opportunities.

Jules Ngankam, Group Chief Executive Officer of AGF, voiced optimism about the partnership’s potential to unlock the immense capacity of SMEs in the region and fuel inclusive economic growth through heightened access to financing.

He emphasized the importance of synergizing expertise and resources to empower SMEs and carve out a more prosperous future for West Africa.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Vista Group, a prominent player in the West African banking arena. This collaboration will harness our collective expertise and resources to unleash the vast potential of SMEs in the region and drive inclusive economic growth through expanded access to financing,” Ngankam stated.

Yao Kouassi, Managing Director of Vista Group Holding, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the partnership’s significance in empowering SMEs and advancing financial inclusion across the region.

He emphasized the alignment of the partnership with Vista Group Holding’s expansion goals, emphasizing its broader regional impact beyond Guinea.

“Teaming up with AGF marks a significant stride in our mission to empower SMEs and enhance financial inclusion across West Africa. This collaboration will enable us to broaden our reach and extend vital financial support to enterprises propelling economic development in these countries. It resonates with our ambition to expand our footprint beyond the Guinean Market to ECOWAS and the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CAEMAC).”

Moreover, the partnership leverages the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) Guarantee for Growth program, backed by the African Development Bank, to unlock up to USD 3 billion in financing for Women SMEs in Africa through financial institutions.
