A Collaborative Effort for National Security

Cybersecurity threats are a global concern, and effectively addressing them requires a collaborative approach.

The establishment of the centre in partnership with the ICT Authority and the University of Nairobi is part of Cisco’s global programme, Country Digital Acceleration (CDA), which works with government and private sector officials to create sustainable, secure, and inclusive communities using ethical and innovative technology solutions.

This new centre highlights the power of public-private partnerships. The Kenyan government’s commitment to national security is evident in its collaboration with Cisco, a leader in the technology industry.

By leveraging Cisco’s expertise, Kenya gains access to innovative training programmes and resources, improving its cybersecurity capabilities.

The University of Nairobi plays a crucial role as a leading educational institution. The centre, strategically located on the Chiromo Campus, will serve as a training hub for cybersecurity professionals.

This not only equips Kenyan citizens with the skills to safeguard the nation’s digital infrastructure but also positions the University of Nairobi as a pioneer in cybersecurity education within the region.

Empowering the Workforce and Building Resilience

Empowering the Workforce:

The demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals is rapidly increasing in Kenya and across Africa. Cybersecurity threats are constantly evolving, and a well-trained workforce is essential for effective defence.

The most recent findings from the Cisco Cyber Security Readiness Index reveal that a large majority of organisations around the world, specifically 86 percent, are facing challenges due to a lack of skilled cyber security professionals.

The Cybersecurity Technology Experience Centre, through the renowned Cisco Networking Academy, will offer comprehensive training programmes.

These programmes will equip individuals with the necessary skills to identify, analyse, and respond to cyberattacks, ultimately keeping Kenya’s digital assets secure.

“This partnership between CDA and Cisco Networking Academy allows us to equip more people with the skills needed for the future and strengthen the country’s cyber defences,” said Shain Rahim, Country Leader for Cisco Kenya.

Raising Awareness and Building Resilience:

Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making cybersecurity awareness crucial for everyone. This new centre will play a vital role in educating the public about cyber threats and best practices.

By raising awareness, individuals and businesses can become more vigilant, promoting a more resilient digital ecosystem in Kenya.

The Cisco Country Digital Acceleration Initiative

Established in 2023, the CDA programme in Kenya collaborates closely with Cisco’s Networking Academy, which has operated in the country for over two decades.

With a track record of training more than 130,000 individuals in areas such as networking, cyber security, programming, and digital skills, the partnership between CDA and Cisco aims to continue empowering learners in Kenya.

Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) initiative is a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting digital transformation across the globe.

In Kenya, the CDA initiative focuses on building a sustainable and secure digital future. The Cybersecurity Technology Experience Centre perfectly aligns with this vision by nurturing a skilled cybersecurity workforce and promoting responsible digital practices.
