Egypt-based fintech company Lucky has successfully closed a US$23 million Series B funding round, comprising both equity and debt.
The round, announced on 8 April 2026, was supported by existing and new investors, including Disruptech Ventures and DPI Venture Capital through the Nclude fund, with strategic participation from Suez Canal Bank and OneStop.
As part of the transaction, prominent tech investor Mohamed Farouk has been appointed Chairman of Lucky’s Board.
This capital infusion comes after a strong 2025 performance in which Lucky achieved threefold annual growth and reached profitability by year-end.
The company specialises in consumer credit solutions that simplify access to financing for individuals, leveraging advanced technology and artificial intelligence to streamline credit processes and offer flexible payment options through its multi-channel card.

Strategic Use of Proceeds
The US$23 million will be deployed across three primary areas to accelerate Lucky’s transition into a full neo-banking platform:
- Expansion of Credit Offerings: Broadening the range of consumer credit products, including personal loans, instalment financing, and buy-now-pay-later solutions, to serve a wider segment of the Egyptian market.
- Technology Infrastructure Enhancement: Strengthening core systems, data analytics capabilities, and artificial intelligence models to improve credit decisioning speed, accuracy, and risk management.
- Regional Expansion: Entering selected North African markets while building on existing merchant and institutional partnerships to create a more comprehensive digital financial services ecosystem.
The funding also supports Lucky’s ongoing efforts to obtain Payment Service Provider (PSP) authorisation from Egyptian regulators, which will enable the company to offer a broader suite of banking-like services, including deposits, payments, and account management.

Alignment with Egypt’s Regulatory Environment
The timing of the Series B is particularly strategic. Egypt’s regulatory framework for fintech has continued to evolve, with advancements in digital onboarding, open banking initiatives, and clearer guidelines for Payment Service Providers. Lucky’s progress toward PSP licensing positions the company to operate more fully within the regulated financial system, reducing reliance on third-party partnerships and enabling end-to-end control of customer financial journeys.
This regulatory alignment is critical for scaling neo-banking ambitions while maintaining compliance and building long-term trust with customers and partners.

Market Perspective and Competitive Positioning
Egypt’s consumer credit and digital finance market continues to expand rapidly, driven by a young, increasingly digital population and growing demand for convenient financing options. Lucky’s focus on AI-powered credit assessment and flexible repayment structures differentiates it in a market where traditional banks often face challenges in serving the mass market efficiently.
The Series B strengthens Lucky’s competitive position by providing the capital needed to scale responsibly, invest in technology, and prepare for regional expansion in North Africa. The involvement of both venture capital and strategic banking partners (Suez Canal Bank) signals strong confidence in the company’s ability to bridge the gap between consumer credit and full neo-banking services.
Looking Ahead
Lucky’s US$23 million Series B round, closed in April 2026, provides critical capital to fuel its transition from a consumer credit specialist to a comprehensive neo-banking platform. The funding will support product expansion, technology infrastructure, and selective regional growth while advancing regulatory milestones such as PSP licensing. With strong 2025 performance and a clear path toward broader financial services, Lucky is well-positioned to capture a larger share of Egypt’s and North Africa’s evolving digital finance market.
