Schneider Electric Kenya partners with KAM to drive digital transformation in Kenya’s Industrial Sector

Schneider Electric Kenya has partnered with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers’ (KAM) to introduce the Digitization Award Category, to celebrate and champion initiatives that drive digital transformation in Kenya’s Industrial Sector. The new category was announced during the recently concluded annual Energy Management Awards (EMA), held at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.

This new category recognizes outstanding achievements in digital transformation, celebrating organizations that have leveraged technology to drive innovation, enhanced productivity and delivered operational efficiencies. As the world continues to embrace the digital age, KAM and Schneider Electric Kenya aim to honor those who have successfully harnessed the power of technology to revolutionize their manufacturing operations.

This year, the Isuzu East Africa won the Digitisation Award. In addition to the recognition, Schneider Electric presented ISUZU its award-winning Power Monitoring Software -EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert (PME) valued at $40,000. The Digitisation Award aims to promote transform Kenyan manufacturing industry through open and universal automation.

Schneider Electric’s Power Monitoring Software (PME) gives insight into electrical system health and energy efficiency so businesses can make informed decisions that improve power system performance. With its open, scalable architecture, PME connects to smart devices across the electrical system, integrates with process control systems and other enterprise platforms within the business and converts the data into actionable insights for real-time power and equipment monitoring. The system can be used to track key performance indicators around energy and reliability, or share energy, sustainability, and power quality metrics with stakeholders to ensure reliable network operation, equipment performance, and reduced network outages.

According to KAM, the Energy Management Digitization Award recognizes a facility that has adopted energy management systems and extensive installation of sectional meters. “Isuzu East Africa Limited has installed sectional meters extensively which help the facility in tracking energy consumption, measurement and verification of savings of the implemented measures and to make data driven decisions hence having this software (PME) will catapult them to the next level of digitization” explained Joyce Njogu, KAM Head of Consulting and Business Development.

“We will continue to walk this journey with the KAM to refine the process of recognising more members in this category.  Digitisation brings transparency to company systems and operational energy efficiency.  Creating awareness of these important benefits are crucial in the Kenyan manufacturing industry,” says Carol Koech, Country President Schneider Electric, Kenya.

This is the second year that Schneider Electric is awarding the PME software through the Kenya Association of manufacturers, Energy Management Awards.
